Privacy Policy — Net Speed

Net Speed does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no crash reporting. Everything the app measures stays on your device, and no user data is sent to us or to any third party.
What the app stores, and where
Net Speed measures network throughput and data usage and keeps the results in a database on your own device. Nothing is uploaded. Specifically, the app stores:
- Daily totals of Wi-Fi and mobile data used
- Your settings — data limit, billing cycle day, units, notification and overlay preferences
This data never leaves the device. Uninstalling Net Speed deletes all of it.
Special permissions
Two permissions cannot be requested from inside an app — you grant them yourself in system settings, and you can revoke them there at any time. Net Speed works without both; each one only enables the feature described below.

Network connections
Net Speed makes no network requests for its normal operation. Speed and usage are measured from counters the Android system already maintains on the device.
There is one exception, and it only happens when you press the button:

The speed test. When you start a test, the app transfers a quantity of
meaningless bytes to and from Cloudflare's public speed-test endpoint
(
speed.cloudflare.com) and times how long it takes. No information about you, your device, or your usage is included in those requests. As with any request to any server on the internet, your IP address is visible to that server — this is unavoidable for any speed test, and it is the only way the app ever contacts an outside service. The result is shown on screen and is not saved or sent anywhere. -
Latency measurement. While the floating overlay is visible, the app opens a
brief connection to a public DNS server (
8.8.8.8:53) to time the round trip. No data is sent or received beyond establishing and closing the connection.
App names and icons
The per-app usage breakdown shows the names and icons of apps installed on your device. These are read from the device's own package manager. No list of your installed apps is transmitted anywhere.
Children
Net Speed is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a revised date above. Any change that affects what data leaves your device would also be described in the app's release notes.
